Join the one and only Cressida Cowell, author and illustrator of the fabulous book series and DreamWorks movie franchise How To Train Your Dragon. Ask her about growing up on an island she thought was inhabited by dragons, learn some Dragonese and get the scoop on seeing book characters brought to life for the big screen. Cowell will be in conversation with Nicolette Jones and will talk too about creating picture books, and about favourite picture books by other writers including her best friend Lauren Child. Cowell will read the first chapter of her next book, which has not even been seen by her editor yet, and will also reveal its cover before its official unveiling on Blue Peter. A funny and inspiring event with one of the most talented children’s authors of today.

Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon was turned into an award-winning animated film by the renowned DreamWorks Animation team.  She is also author of the Emily Brown series, the first of which, That Rabbit Belongs to Emily Brown, won a Nestlé Children’s Book Award.

We are very sorry but due to unforeseen circumstances Lauren Child, who was due to be part of this event, cannot now attend. Lauren and her publisher Hachette Children’s Books send their apologies and will provide a special free gift for all children attending this event.
