Poet Toby Martinez de las Rivas discusses his preoccupations in conversation with fellow writer and poet Jem Poster and reads extensively from his own work. The poems of Toby Martinez de las Rivas were initially published in pamphlet form as part of the Faber New Poets scheme. His first full-length collection, Terror, also published by Faber, is formally adventurous and wide-ranging, an examination of ideas of conflict, betrayal, sexual and divine love, history and hope; it’s a collection that reveals a writer in search of a language which might console us, a language with which we might commune in our most private and fearful moments.
