Fantasy adventure author Abi Elphinstone talks about the real-life adventures she went on to make her books happen and shows unusual and exciting objects – from catapults to fortune-telling balls – she used in the stories.

Elphinstone is author of The Dreamsnatcher and its sequel The Shadow Keeper. She will explain how she used her adventures for the plots in her book and how you can turn your own adventures into stories.  They included abseiling into jungle caves, hang-gliding over Rio De Janeiro and living with the Kazakh Eagle Hunters in Mongolia.

Elphinstone says she spent most of her childhood in Scotland building dens, hiding in tree houses and running wild across the glens. She has worked as a teacher in Africa, Berkshire and London, and now teaches creative writing in schools and travels the world looking for her next stories.
