International bestselling author Iain Pears talks to fellow writer Jem Poster about his writing life and his extraordinary new novel, Arcadia, a complex, multi-faceted narrative set in 1960s Oxford.

Pears worked as a journalist variously for the BBC, Channel 4, Reuters and Germany’s ZDF before taking up novel-writing. In addition to his bestselling novel, An Instance of the Fingerpost, he has written detective novels, a book of art history and an opera libretto.

Poet and novelist Poster is emeritus professor of creative writing, Aberystwyth University, and director of academic programmes for the FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival.
