Scientist and Nobel Prize winner Professor Sir Paul Nurse talks to theoretical physicist Professor Steve Cowley about the great unanswered scientific questions. Questions to challenge the next generation of scientists.

Nurse was joint winner of the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine in 2001 for his work on cell duplication and division.  His groundbreaking work has huge significance in the understanding and treatment of cancers and other serious diseases caused by errors in cell growth and division. Nurse is director of the Francis Crick Institute in London, and has served as president of the Royal Society, chief executive of Cancer Research UK and president of Rockefeller University. Nurse has also not been shy of criticising politicians for talking nonsense. He argues that scientific leaders have a responsibility to ‘expose the bunkum’.

Here Nurse talks to the leading theoretical physicist, former chief executive of the UK Atomic Energy Authority and now President of Corpus Christi College Professor Steven Cowley.

This event is presented by Corpus Christi College as part of its 500th anniversary celebrations.
