The great English soprano Dame Felicity Lott talks about her life and career in conversation with one of America’s foremost experts on opera, Fred Plotkin. This event is the first in a new annual series of ‘musical conversations’.

Lott made her debut at the English National Opera in 1975. She went on to form a long association with Glyndebourne and has appeared at all the major opera houses of the world including Covent Garden, Vienna, Milan, Paris, Brussels, Munich, Hamburg, Dresden, Berlin, New York and Chicago. Lott has worked with major conductors on opera including Andrew Davis, Bernard Haitink, Vladimir Jurowski, Carlos Kleiber, Antonio Pappano and Simon Rattle, performing works by among others Strauss, Mozart , Britten, Poulenc, Schubert, Offenbach and Schumann.

Here she talks to Plotkin, one of America’s foremost experts on opera and on the culture of food in Italy. He has worked at prestigious theatres, including La Scala and the Metropolitan Opera, and has lectured at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He is the author of nine books, including Italy for the Gourmet Traveller. In 2015, he was made a Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia.
