BBC Masterchef winner, restaurant owner and cookery writer and broadcaster Thomasina Miers talks about the fuss-free recipes in her new book, Home Cook.

Miers says her guide for the home cook is about enjoying great food any day of the week. She has compiled more than 300 favourite recipes from those she uses for her friends and family and that have been inspired by her favourite chefs or her travels around the world. They range from marmalade and poppy-seed muffins to seafood paella, Mexican crab mayo, picadillo, crispy chicken thighs and upside-down rhubarb cake.

Miers won BBC Masterchef in 2005. Since then she has made several cookery series for Channel 4 and Channel 5, and opened her own branch of restaurants themed on Mexican street food, Wahaca. She writes the Weekend Cook column in the Guardian.

Here she talks to Henrietta Clancy, a food writer and food stylist and author of Just Soup: Everything You Need in a Bowl.
