Veteran BBC reporter and presenter Robin Lustig looks back at his career as a foreign correspondent for Reuters and the Observer in the Middle East, Balkans and USA and at his time as a BBC presenter on programmes such as The World Tonight.

Lustig says he has seen many changes in the way news is reported during his 45 years in the business. He recalls coming under fire in Pakistan, reporting from Berlin on the day of German reunification, meeting Nelson Mandela and reporting on Princess Diana’s death. Lustig also reflects on growing up as the son of refugees from Nazi Germany and the murder of his grandmother by a Nazi death squad. And he takes a candid look at broadcast journalism.
