A panel of world-renowned scholars, authors, and poets explores the life and work of Nobel Prize winning poet, critic, and dramatist T S Eliot, with readings by actor Geoffrey Streatfeild. They will illuminate some of the key themes in Eliot’s work and delve into his times and influence. There will be readings, debate, and some questions and answers.

Professor Mark Ford is a professor in the English department at University College London. He has published four volumes of poetry, including Enter, Fleeing. His collection of essays, This Dialogue of One, was the winner of the Poetry Foundation’s 2015 Pegasus Award for Poetry Criticism.

Lyndall Gordon is author of The Imperfect Life of T S Eliot, winner of the British Academy’s Rose Mary Crawshay prize and the Southern Arts prize. Her forthcoming book, The Hyacinth Girl: T S Eliot’s Hidden Muse, will be published this year.

Professor Jason Harding of Durham University is an expert on T S Eliot and Eliot’s journal The Criterion. He is author of The Criterion: Cultural Politics and Periodical Networks in Inter-war Britain.

Hannah Sullivan is an academic and poet based at New College Oxford. She won the T S Eliot Prize in 2018 for Three Poems.

Discussions will be chaired by Claire Armitstead, the Guardian associate editor, culture.
