About this Event:

An award-winning historian and an international bestselling novelist talk about their different approaches to researching the historical background to their work, under the chairmanship of broadcaster and writer Paul Blezard.

Antony Beevor is a multi-award-winning military historian who has published four novels and ten works of non-fiction – including Stalingrad; The Spanish Civil War; Crete – The Battle and the Resistance; Paris After the Liberation 1944-1949; and D-Day – The Battle for Normandy.  His latest work is The Second World War, a full history of the war which aims to fill in many of the black holes in our knowledge.

Kate Mosse is the author of three non-fiction books, three plays and five novels, including the multi-million selling international number one bestseller, Labyrinth. The first of her Languedoc trilogy, it was translated into 37 languages and published in 40 countries. The second in the series, Sepulchre, was also a number one bestseller, as was The Winter Ghosts, a novella based on her contribution to Quick Reads 2008, The CaveCitadel, the final part of the trilogy, is set during the Second World War in the South of France. It is a story of courage and bravery under occupation, centred on an all-female group of resistance fighters. The novel ties together the themes of the previous two novels and reintroduces characters from both Labyrinth and Sepulchre. The co-founder and honorary director of the Women’s Prize for Fiction, she is on the board of the National Theatre and is co-director of the Chichester Writing Festival with her husband, author and translator, Greg Mosse.
