About this Event:

Alexandria: The Last Nights of Cleopatra is the latest book of diaries by the editor of the Times Literary Supplement and chairman of the 2012 Man Booker judging panel, Sir Peter Stothard.  In conversation with writer and biographer Ross King, Stothard previews his account of three weeks in winter 2010 when the aftermath of a bombing and the onset of the Arab Spring placed obstacles in his plans to complete a long-delayed biography of Cleopatra. A man and a woman from the author’s school days became as pressing as the political minders of Mubarak’s Egypt.  Alexandria is published in June.
