Welcome to a Very Short Introduction soapbox. A short talk lasting 15 minutes from an expert in the field. The talk is free and takes place in Blackwell’s Marquee, next to the Sheldonian Theatre.

Medieval and early modern history professor Miri Rubin looks at the sheer complexity, variety, dynamism and change brought by 1,000 years of history known as the Middle Ages. She shows how the Middle Ages saw the emergence of a global system of communication, conquest and trade. Rubin is professor of medieval history at Queen Mary University of London and head of the School of History.
