Acclaimed biographer and novelist A N Wilson explains Queen Victoria as she has never been seen before. In his new, definitive biography, he reveals Victoria as one of the most passionate, expressive, humorous and unconventional women that ever lived – contrary to traditional perceptions. Wilson has used a wealth of material from previously unseen sources to explore the curious circumstances around the coronation, Victoria’s isolated childhood, her passionate marriage, her widowhood and her intimate friendship with John Brown.

Wilson is an award-winning biographer of, among others, Tolstoy, Dante, Betjeman and C S Lewis. He has written more than 20 novels including the Booker-longlisted Winnie and Wolf and The Potter’s Hand. He will also interview novelist Constantine Phipps on the final day of the festival.
