About this Event:

Journalists Adrian Levy and Cathy Scott-Clark tell the definitive story in The Meadow of the 1995 kidnapping in Kashmir of a group of backpackers and of how it changed the face of jihad and sowed the seeds for a war against the West. It is a story of a terrifying escape, secret letters and a horrific beheading.

Levy and Scott-Clark had access to diaries, letters, classified police reports and secret tape recordings of Indian government negotiations. They also spoke to some of the jihadis involved. Levy will discuss the story as well as wider questions about investigative journalism, its importance, whether it is a force for good and what drives people to take it up as a career.

Note: Cathy Scott-Clark was originally programmed to take part in this discussion but is now unable to attend.
