Mario Fontana, an award-winning producer of the traditional wines of Le Langhe — Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo and Barolo — travels over from the wine hills of Barolo to be in conversation with wine, food and travel author Marc Millon. The discussion will explore Fontana’s philosophy of winemaking and life itself in this beautiful and majestic corner of North West Italy. Fontana will explain his philosophy of natural winemaking and the session will include a tutored tasting of the full range of the exquisite and prestigious wines of Cascina Fontana. Millon has been travelling and writing about Italy and Italian food since the early 80s. He is the author of The Wine Roads of Italy and The Food Lovers’ Companion Italy. His latest book is Wine: A Global History.

This session forms part of a series by Oxford Gastronomica, Oxford Brookes University’s centre for the study of food, drink and culture.
