Author-illustrator James Mayhew’s Katie series was first published over 25 years ago and has been widely recognised as the original and best introduction to art for young children. Mayhew’s events are legendary: he devises and performs concerts, combining live classical music, storytelling and art.  Join him for a unique, family-friendly performance of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition – Mayhew will be painting live, accompanied by a pianist and storytelling as he goes.

The original Katie’s Picture Show has been followed by many more in the bestselling series, which sells in museums and galleries across the world. Mayhew is also creator of the Ella Bella Ballerina series, Koshka’s Tales, Miranda the Explorer and Boy, and collaborates with many other leading writers and artists. In 2014, he presented with the Docklands Sinfonia Peter and the Wolf to 700 children from schools in Tower Hamlets.
