Britain’s most famous mathematician Professor Marcus du Sautoy goes to the edge of knowledge and throws light on the things we cannot know.

Is it possible we could one day know everything? Or are there things that simply lie beyond human comprehension? Is the universe infinite? Do we know what happened before the big bang? Where is human consciousness located in the brain? And how do we cope with living in a universe where some things will always transcend our understanding? Du Sautoy looks across scientific fields including quantum physics, cosmology, sensory perception and neuroscience in a journey to the far edges of science.

Du Sautoy succeeded Richard Dawkins as the prestigious Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science at the University of Oxford in 2008. He is author of the highly acclaimed The Music of the Primes and winner of the Berwick Prize of The London Mathematical Society.
