Professor Sir Diarmaid MacCulloch explains the historical context and the importance of the Bay Psalm Book, the first book to be produced in what has become the USA.  Thanks to a recent auction sale, it is now the book with the highest price-tag in the world.  Faithfully reproduced by the Bodleian Library from its own super-rare copy, it scorns outward show like the Puritan folk who made it, but its pages can be made to sing again in more than one sense.

This is a free event but places must be booked through the Bodleian Libraries.
