Former Keeper of Western Manuscripts at the Bodleian Mary Clapinson talks about key events in the library’s 400-year history and about some of the colourful personalities who have contributed to the development of its splendid buildings and great collections. She is author of A Brief History of the Bodleian Library, which includes fascinating details about the lives and eccentricities of the people who have shaped its history.

Clapinson worked in the Bodleian Library for more than 30 years, 16 of them as keeper of Western manuscripts.
