Travel writer and journalist Isabella Tree talks to fellow writer Adam Nicolson about her new book on the hidden heart of Nepal, The Living Goddess. Tree spent more than 10 years researching her book, which centres around the Living Goddess, a child as young as three chosen from a caste of Buddhist goldsmiths to watch over the country and its people.  Tree had access to many layers of Nepalese society and weaves together, myth, modern history, religious belief and court gossip to tell a fascinating story about this reclusive country.

Tree writes for The Sunday Times, The Observer, Conde Nast Traveler and National Geographic, and is also author of The Bird Man, Islands in the Clouds and Sliced Iguana.
