Robert Montagu talks to criminologist and filmmaker Roger Graef about the sexual abuse he suffered as a child at the hands of his MP father Victor Montagu, the 10th Earl of Sandwich, revealed publicly for the first time in his newly published memoir, A Humour of Love. The book is one that Montagu initially planned to write as fiction under a pseudonym because of the painful nature of the story, but ultimately decided it was right to speak openly about. It is the disturbing tale of how a father confused lust and love and abused an innocent seven-year-old on an almost daily basis until he was 11.

Robert Montagu worked in business before qualifying as a family therapist and founding the Dorset Child and Family Counselling Trust, of which he is now chairman. He has previously written a novel, Coming to Terms.
