Veterinarian Professor David Bainbridge applies evolutionary biology and cutting-edge psychology to the science of women’s bodies. Bainbridge asks: Why is the human female the only female animal to have curves and why do these curves influence sexual selection, social hierarchy and self-image? Bainbridge draws on history, contemporary media and interviews with women.

Bainbridge teaches clinical veterinary anatomy at the University of Cambridge. He has written four previous books on pregnancy, on the biology of sex and sexuality, on the brain and on teenagers.
