Acclaimed biographer and novelist A N Wilson explores his own relationship to the Bible and that of other artists and thinkers throughout the ages.

Wilson says he has been thinking about and reading the Bible since he did a year of theology at University. Martin Luther King was reading it when he started the civil rights movement as was Michelangelo when he painted the Sistine Chapel. Wilson says the Bible is a seminal work of literature and he challenges the way fundamentalists, both believers and non-believers, have misused it.

Wilson is an award-winning biographer of, among others, Tolstoy, Dante, Betjeman, C S Lewis and Queen Victoria. He has written more than 20 novels including the Booker-longlisted Winnie and Wolf and The Potter’s Hand.
