Ticket priceOlympic and World champion track and field athlete Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill launches her new children’s book series, Evie’s Magic Bracelet, and talks about her life and career. Inspired by her young family, Ennis-Hill’s magical new series will delight young readers. The books include a strong and important message that, with a bit of determination and friends by your side, anything is possible. Come and hear about the books, about Ennis-Hill’s own childhood, and ask her about her golden sporting career.
In the Evie’s Magic Bracelet series, Evie is sent a beautiful bracelet by her Grandma Iris in Jamaica. But the bracelet isn’t just beautiful, it’s magical too, and allows her to see and use magic all around her, starting in The Silver Unicorn with talking to animals. These stories will inspire children to believe in themselves and have the determination to reach their full potential.
Ennis-Hill grew up in Sheffield with her parents and younger sister. She was introduced to athletics by her parents and turned professional in 2005. She is currently world heptathlon champion and won heptathlon gold at the London 2012 Olympics and silver at Rio 2016. She retired from competitive athletics in October 2016, and was appointed a Dame in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in 2017.
Here she talks to to The Sunday Times children’s books editor Nicolette Jones.
