Bestselling Turkish author and leading voice in world literature Elif Shafak talks about her latest novel, The Three Daughters of Eve, set in Istanbul and Oxford.

The work is a story of friendship, faith, tradition, modernity, love and betrayal centred around a wealthy Turkish housewife reflecting back on her time as a young woman at the University of Oxford. 

Shafak is author of ten novels that have been published in more than 40 countries and is regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in Turkish and world literature. She writes in both Turkish and English, blending eastern and western traditions, and is known as a champion of cosmopolitanism. Her novels include Pinhan, winner of the Rumi Prize (best work in mystical literature in Turkey), The Flea Palace, Bastard of Istanbul, The Forty Rules of Love, and Honour.

Here she talks to journalist and LBC radio presenter Matthew Stadlen, a former BBC producer who is a regular interviewer for the Daily Telegraph and has interviewed for the BBC.
