Meet the new Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell, hear about his love of drawing and watch him draw the answers to your questions.

On his appointment to the post, Riddell said he wanted to show everyone how much fun you can have with a pencil, so he will be drawing the answers to your questions. The lucky questioners will take their doodle-answers home with them, a unique piece of art from one of our greatest illustrators.

Riddell is the genius behind a vast range of books loved by children and adults, including Alienography, the Ottoline series, and the Costa Book Award-winning Goth Girl series. He also illustrated Paul Stewart’s The Edge Chronicles and Russell Brand’s Pied Piper of Hamelin. He has twice won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal and still manages to produce political cartoons for The Observer.
