Join writer Philip Ardagh and illustrator Axel Scheffler for some frankly improbable but very funny adventures with the Grunt family

The Grunt family is back and as delightfully repulsive as ever. They wash with cheese (if there’s no soap to hand), eat roadkill, and argue with one another all the time (‘choking hazard’ ‘fly tip’ just some of the terms of abuse hurled) but they are strangely lovable. The latest book in the series brings back some familiar faces and solves a couple of mysteries too.

Ardagh is a winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize and author of more than 100 books including the Grubtown Tales series. He is a regular reviewer of children’s books for The Guardian, and is currently developing a series for television. He is two metres tall with a ridiculously big, bushy beard and size 16 feet, making him an instantly recognisable figure at literary festivals around the world.

Scheffler is best known for his partnership with Julia Donaldson, including on A Squash and a Squeeze and The Gruffalo. He has illustrated a number of other highly successful books, including Muddle Farm, and his books have been translated into 42 languages.
