Founder of Mindlab International Dr David Lewis looks at the nature of impulse and argues that it can be desirable and lead to experiences we cherish and would miss if we were entirely logical. Lewis talks about the two kinds of thinking going on in our brain, one slow and reflective the other fast and prone to error. And he explains why snap decisions often govern our lives and enrich them. Impulse is what makes us blurt out indiscretions, fall for incompatible romantic partners and have that last drink we know we should not have had.

Lewis is founder and director of research at Mindlab International at the Sussex Innovation Centre. It provides cutting edge insight into the behaviour of individuals in a wide range of situations.
