Television presenter and chief curator of the Historic Royal Palaces Dr Lucy Worsley introduces a preview version of a new BBC documentary to mark the 300th anniversary in 2014 of the Hanoverian succession to the British throne.

The First Georgians: The German Kings who Made Britain (working title) will present the revealing and surprising story of Britain in the reigns of George I and George II (1714-60) – the age of the ‘German Georges’. In 1714, Britain imported a new German royal family from Hanover, headed by Georg Ludwig (aka George I) – an uncharismatic, middle-aged man with a limited grasp of English. Worsley presents the new three-part series for BBC Four, in partnership with Royal Collection Trust, to coincide with the exhibition The First Georgians: Art & Monarchy 1714-1760 at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace.

Following the showing Worsley, will answer questions about the documentary. Worsley looks after the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace among others. She has presented several series for the BBC including Harlots, Housewives and Heroines for BBC 4, Elegance and Decadence: The Age of the Regency, also BBC Four,  and If Walls Could Talk for BBC1. She is author of a number of books including Cavalier: A Tale of Chivalry, Passion and Great Houses, and A Very British Murder, which accompanied a BBC series of the same name.
