Melling’s Hugless Douglas books have sold more than a million copies and been published in 26 languages. His recent picture book, The Tale of Jack Frost, was animated and shown on BBC1 on Christmas Day with a voiceover by Hugh Laurie. It was shortlisted for the Pulcinella Award 2005 in the best TV movie category. To date, he has illustrated more than 60 books, writing and illustrating around 15 of them.
