Countryside writer and broadcaster Rosamond Richardson explores the world of birds through the seasons of a single year and from the perspective of a beginner bird-watcher.

Richardson describes encounters with birds in her home region of East Anglia and on journeys to the Outer Hebrides and Eastern Europe. Richardson says the beauty of birds has changed her life and can change the lives of others.  And she explores how wildness is embedded in the human psyche and how beauty is key to our emotional and mental wellbeing.

Richardson is author of several books on the countryside, including the international bestselling Country Wisdom and the Penguin classic Hedgerow Cookery. She is co-presenter of BBC2’s Discovering Hedgerows and contributes to Bird Watching, The Countryman, Landscape and Countryside magazines.
