Acclaimed novelist and journalist Nick Barlay tells the story of 200 years of Hungarian history through the eyes of his own large family. Barlay was born to Hungarian-Jewish refugee parents and has used family possessions, memories and extensive investigation and travel to research his family’s experiences of revolutions, the Austro-Hungarian empire, totalitarian regimes, two world wars and of contemporary Britain.
