Former Dutch detective Laurens de Groot describes how he gave up his job rooting out organised crime to join an international marine wildlife organisation, Sea Shepherd, fighting a war against the Japanese whaling fleet in the Antarctic. De Groot and the crew of the Sea Shepherd hunt Japanese whalers as the whalers hunt their quarry. They have to deal with extreme conditions in the Antarctic and attacks by the Japanese crews. On one mission, their boat was rammed and sunk by a whaling ship.

De Groot worked for Sea Shepherd for several years. He has featured in Animal Planet’s Whale Wars TV series and is using his law enforcement experience to fight Rhino poachers in South Africa.
