A Manual for Being Human

Online therapist and former NHS clinical psychologist DR Soph explains where our emotions come from and how to manage them to our benefit in these challenging times.
DR Soph says she wrote the book because she felt there should be a manual for how to look after ourselves in the same way we have a manual for looking after our cars, pets or gardens. She says we are not raised to understand ourselves but are raised to misunderstand ourselves and fear the very thing that makes us, us. Dr Soph talks about self-belief, understanding how your past affects who you are today, how society, gender expectations, bullying, and the media you consume each day affects your emotional wellbeing.
DR Soph has a doctorate in clinical psychology and worked on the frontline at London’s Homerton Hospital. She left her traditional role to share her psychological knowledge with her 40,000 followers on Instagram, on her blog and through her online private practice. She is also an expert for the mindfulness app, Happy Not Perfect. Here she talks to former LBC radio host and BBC presenter Matthew Stadlen.
