Join Sir Michael Morpurgo for a magical afternoon of music, storytelling and poetry to celebrate the publication of The Carnival of the Animals beautifully illustrated by Michael Foreman.
Morpurgo’s new book is a collection of animal poems celebrating the animals with whom we share the planet and telling of our impact on their habitats. He will be joined for this family event by actor Natalie Walter and award-winning cellist Clare O’Connell will play a selection of pieces inspired by Michael’s poems including arrangements from Saint Saens’ Carnival of the Animals.
Morpurgo is one of Britain’s best-loved writers for children, author of favourites including The Butterfly Lion, Kensuke’s Kingdom, Private Peaceful and War Horse. He has won many prizes, including the Smarties Prize, The Writers Guild Award and the Blue Peter Book Award. From 2003 to 2005 he was the Children’s Laureate, a role which took him all over the UK to promote literacy and reading, and in 2005 he was named the Booksellers Association Author of the Year.
