Curator Olivia Horsfall Turner talks about the 19th-century architect, designer, illustrator and printer Owen Jones and his influence on art and design and on the early years of the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Horsfall Turner looks at Jones’s relationship with the South Kensington Museum, which later became the V and A, from its inception in the 1850s until his death in 1874. She looks at the creation of his celebrated volume, The Grammar of Ornament, at his decorative scheme for the museum’s Oriental Court, and at his lesser-known publication, Examples of Chinese Ornament.

Horsfall Turner is senior curator of architecture and design at the Victoria and Albert Museum. She looks after design drawings that document the creative process in art, architecture and design from the 14th century to the present day.
