Writer and editor Bettina Chua Abdullah talks about how creating an ‘edible memoir’ with her friend Manju Saigal helped her understand the power of food, cooking and storytelling to inspire love in a celebration of life’s flavours. With tastings from the book To Nourish with Love.

Chua Abdullah will talk about food as edible memories and the theme of food as love, nourishment, and part of family. To Nourish with Love came out of a trip Chua Abdullah and Saigal made to Mussoorie in the foothills of the Himalayas, where Saigal spent her childhood. Saigal, who later settled in Kuala Lumpur, realised how much her cooking was a product of those early years and says the book and recipes are a celebration of her family’s philosophy.

Chua Abdullah is founder of the Fay Khoo Award for Food and Drink Writing. She is editor of the Malaysian food anthology Telltale Food: Writings from the Kay Phoo Award 2017-2019 and will also talk about this book.
