Neuroscientists Dr Barbara Sahakian and Dr Christelle Langley explain how you can embrace simple lifestyle strategies that will improve your brain health, cognition and overall wellbeing.
Sahakian and Langley say adopting good habits at an early age in areas such as exercise, diet, sleep, social interactions, kindness, mindfulness and learning will lead to a longer and healthier life. They say lifestyle choices play a big part in promoting resilience, creativity and overall quality of life across all ages.
Sahakian is professor of clinical neuropsychology in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge and is widely regarded as one of the international leaders in her field. Her other books include Sex, Lies, and Brain Scans: How FMRI Reveals what Really Goes on in Our Mind. Langley is a cognitive neuroscientist at the University of Cambridge who has been involved in several high-impact studies in areas such as cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology, psychiatry and psychopharmacology.
Discussions are chaired by the vice-chancellor of the University of Oxford Professor Irene Tracey, a professor of anaesthetic neuroscience in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, a department she led for several years. Tracey is a former warden of Merton College and a founding member and former director of the world-leading Oxford Centre for Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain. Speakers are invited for interview by the vice-chancellor of the University of Oxford.
