Journalist and multi-million-selling author Ben Macintyre tells the story of the siege of the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980 and the remarkable rescue led by the SAS.

Macintyre draws on unpublished materials, interviews with the SAS and testimony from hostages, negotiators and intelligence officers to tell the full story of the six-day siege when six heavily armed gunmen burst into the building and took 26 hostages. Macintyre explains how police negotiators and psychiatrists sought a bloodless end to the siege while the SAS began planning a daring rescue. Macintyre’s is the first full account of events that changed forever the way the UK thought about the SAS.
