Quantum physicist and BBC presenter Professor Jim Al-Khalili explains how eight lessons from science can help you get the most out of your life.
In his new book, Al-Khalili presents eight short lessons on how to unlock clarity, empowerment, and the joy of thinking and living more scientifically. And he invites us to look at the world in the way scientists have been trained to do. He discusses the nature of truth and uncertainty, the role of doubt, the pros and cons of simplification, bias, and the importance of evidence-based thinking. Powerful ideas at the heart of science are deeply relevant to the complicated times we live in, says Al-Khalili.
Al-Khalili is a theoretical physicist at the University of Surrey where he also holds a chair in the public engagement of science. He has written 14 books of popular science and is a regular presenter of science documentaries and host of BBC Radio 4’s The Life Scientific.
