Author and singer-songwriter Malachy Tallack talks about his novel, That Beautiful Atlantic Waltz, and the accompanying music album with the same name. Tallack will perform some of the music on guitar.
The novel sees Sonny return to Shetland from life on a whaler to build a new home life with his wife and son. In present day Shetland, Jack is an old man living in the cottage where he grew up. Jack’s life revolves around his music ,but something appears on his doorstep to throw everything out of rhythm. The accompanying music album is music written in the character of Jack.
Tallack has written five works of fiction and non-fiction out of his fascination with the relationship between people and places and has released four music albums and an EP. He is managing editor of Gutter, Scotland’s leading literary journal. Here he talks to broadcaster and author Matthew Stadlen.
