Kit’s sister Libby disappears during a winter holiday by the coast. No-one but Kit remembers her, and he is faced with a new reality in which his sister never existed. He then meets a local boy who remembers Libby perfectly. The pair embark on a journey into a world steeped in ancient folklore and try to uncover the secret of The Twelve and rescue Libby.
Hyder’s first novel for young adults, Bearmouth, won the Branford Boase Award and the Waterstones Children’s Book Award for Older Readers. De Freston is an Oxford-based artist and illustrator who combines paintings, film and performance into immersive visceral narratives. Millwood Hargrave is author of poems and children’s novels including Leila and the Blue Fox and In the Shadow of the Wolf Queen.
