Bestselling novelists Freya North and Wendy Holden talk about their latest works, overcoming writers’ block, the perils of being placed in a single genre and finding imaginative freedom.

North has written 14 bestselling novels including Sally, Pillow Talk, winner of the RNA award, and The Turning Point. Her latest novel, Little Wing, is a powerful story of two families over three generations. The lives of three people collide and interweave between London, Essex and the Outer Hebrides. Questions are asked and secrets surface.

Number one bestseller Wendy Holden has sold millions of books across the world in the course of a writing career lasting over 20 years. The first novel in her ‘difficult Windsor women’ series, The Governess, fictionalised the long-buried story of Marion ‘Crawfie’ Crawford, controversial childhood governess to the Queen. Her latest novel, The Duchess, a fictional account of the role of Wallis Simpson in the abdication of Edward VIII, is the second in the series a series based around the Windsors. The next one, The Princess, fictionalises Princess Diana’s early years.
