Joe Zammit-Lucia Interviewed by John Kay

Businessman and management consultant Joe Zammit-Lucia explains how politics influences businesses and consumer behaviour and says there are new opportunities for businesses that can develop political antennae.

Zammit-Lucia argues businesses cannot afford to be apolitical. He says politics shapes the environment in which businesses and brands operate and this is particularly true in an age of social activism. Businesses must understand this if they are to benefit from the zeitgeist. And he looks at issues such as why business exist at all, what businesses stand for politically and culturally, and the importance of diversity.

Following an executive career in multinational business, Zammit-Lucia founded his own management advisory firm with offices in Cambridge, New York and Tokyo. On divestment, he co-founded the RADIX network of public policy think tanks. Here he talks to the leading economist Professor Sir John Kay, a former director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the first dean of Oxford’s Said Business School.
