One of the world’s best-known scientists Professor Richard Dawkins explains how nature and humans learned to overcome the pull of gravity and take to the skies.
Dawkins looks at the story from the mythical Icarus to the extinct Argentavis magnificens, the Wright flyer and the 747, and the Peregrine falcon. However, his book is also about flights of the mind and about escaping the everyday through science, ideas and imagination. Dawkins collaborated with the artist Jena Lenzova, who has illustrated the book.
‘Dawkins has always been an extraordinarily muscular, persuasive thinker. What feels new here is that he writes with such charm and warmth’ The Times
Dawkins is one of the world’s leading experts on evolution and a major contributor to the public understanding of science. His bestselling books include The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker, and The God Delusion. He is an atheist and well known for his criticisms of creationism and intelligent design. Here he talks to former LBC radio host and BBC presenter Matthew Stadlen.
