Norman Scott, the man at the centre of one of the 20th century’s most sensational political scandals, talks about his affair with Jeremy Thorpe, the attempt on his life, and how he spoke truth to the establishment.

Scott was the subject of an assassination attempt on Exmoor in 1975. The would-be assassin only succeeded in shooting Scott’s dog. Scott had been having an affair with Liberal Party leader Jeremy Thorpe, and the assassination attempt culminated in a criminal trial at which Thorpe was eventually acquitted of conspiracy to murder. The scandal was recently the subject of a BBC mini series, A Very British Scandal, starring Hugh Grant as Thorpe and Ben Wishaw as Scott.

Scott has had successful careers as a model and as an equestrian instructor.
