The media is filled with bad news about the health implications of the food we eat. The direct connections between our diet and disease are overwhelming. What can we do? This one-day workshop explores the practical approach to changing our relationship with food from sick-ness to health, from violence to peace, and from hopelessness to sustainability.

The presenters
Professor Gary Francione is a lawyer, philosopher and advocate of animal rights and vegan-ism. He is a world- leading authority on animal rights and professor of law at Rutgers Universi-ty. Professor Anna Charlton is adjunct professor of law at Rutgers University. Francione and Charlton co-founded the Rutgers Animal Rights Law Clinic and are joint authors of a series of books on animal ethics and veganism.
Bill Tara is a natural health educator and entrepreneur. He founded the Community Health Foundation in London and co-founded the Kushi Institute, the world’s leading macrobiotic ed-ucational facility. Tara and Marlene Watson-Tara founded the Human Ecology Project in 2021 to serve their shared vision of a healthy world for humans and non-humans alike. Watson-Tara is a vegan and activist and author of Go Vegan: A Guide to Delicious Everyday Food. She is pre-paring the menus for the festival’s opening and closing dinners.
