Writer and campaigner against sexual violence Louise Perry and historian and Daily Telegraph columnist Dr Zoe Strimpel discuss their contrasting views on the sexual revolution and how much freedom women enjoy today.

Perry is the host of the Maiden Mother Matriarch podcast about sexual politics. In her book, The Case Against the Sexual Revolution: A New Guide to Sex in the 21st Century, she argues that liberal feminism and contemporary hypersexualised culture represent more loss than gain for women. Perry says it is neither possible or desirable to return to pre-60s mores, but she makes the case for a new sexual culture built around dignity, virtue and restraint.

Strimpel is author of books including Seeking Love in Modern Britain. In her latest, Good Slut: How Money, Sex and Power Set Women Free, she argues there has never been a better time to be a woman. She says that women’s pain, injustices and experiences are taken more seriously than ever before and that opportunities in free societies are greater than ever. Strimpel argues that true liberation comes from making the most of the forces of money, power and sex.
