AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY TASTY - MARCH 22 - 3.09PM - 2019
Oxford Literary Festival food and dinners 2019
So the festival’s just about writing and reading and words is it? (coupled obviously with huge quantities of musing, reflection and revelation). Which is all well and dandy, but sometimes a book or poem is even better when paired with top nosh, decent wines, and an unashamed sense of...well, distinction and felicity (whoever she may be). Doubtless then you’ll be delighted to learn that this year the festival is hosting four, frankly classy soirées that kick off next Saturday, March 30 with a new series of Pasture to Plate® events, which ‘look at the environmental and health benefits of raising food on pasture and getting it to the consumer quickly through a short supply chain’ (in case you were wondering). On this occasion, ingredients are being sourced from Whittington Lodge Farm in the Cotswolds, and these will be served during a performance of some short excerpts from the play, ‘No Finer Life’ (‘No Finer Life’ incidentally is written by Graham Harvey, a farming journalist and script writer for The Archers who has collaborated with the festival on this initiative). The event, being held at St Cross College, costs £95, and dress code is informal. I’ll be taking a look at the Festival’s other dining occasions over the next few days. Full details on this dinner and others can be found on the home page of the Festival website. Simply click on the home motif in the top left hand corner of the page and scroll down to the ‘Browse events by category’ panel, clicking on the word ‘Dinners’. Bon appétit!
