“EMINENTLY STROKABLE…” - MARCH 19 - 11.01am
Of Bees and Books: 500 Years of an Oxford College Library
Delivered by College librarian Joanna Snelling, this was a talk for those who enjoy their Sunday evenings watching ‘Antiques Roadshow’ (indeed, it was very appropriate that at the end of her gentle skip through the library’s 500 year history, tea, coffee and biscuits were on hand to complete the english country garden effect).
Sadly, no vicar complete with pushbike and fund-raising pamphlets materialised but this sense of a very english odyssey was pretty much spot on.
The quote of “eminently strokable’ by the way refers not to a cat but a particular furry manuscript.
